DVD XCopy Deluxe Editor's Review

'DVD XCopy Deluxe' wants to be some kind of a DVD cloner. It intends to copy your DVD movies without losing quality. The program seems easy to use because of its wizard like interface. The producer claims that 'With its superior kernel, DVD XCopy Deluxe can backup your entire DVD movie - including menus, trailers and special features to a single DVD disc'.

While testing the program I was disappointed to see that this program is not working as planed. In the trial version it only copy's a quarter of a DVD. The copying process seems to run flawlessly until it is finished and the program will open a second instance, which of course, is followed by an error message: 'Form already displayed; can't show modally'.

When the burning starts on the new DVD, it will freeze your system. For all most a minute you won't be able even to minimize a window. I tested this software on an average computer (AMD Athlon 64 processor 3000+ with 1024 MB of RAM). After burning process finished I tried the new disc to see the results but it was not responding. Then I tried it on another computer, an Intel based one, and after waiting a few minutes the playback started. When I tested it on another AMD based system it behaved as in first case so it seems that it has big stability issues.

Pluses:

Drawbacks / flaws: Unstable and expensive.

In conclusion: Even if it would work it still won't consider to buy something like this. I rather use Nero 6 which offers much more at the same cost.
